DMG MORI obtained approval from SBT (Science Based Targets) initiative  

DMG MORI CO., LTD. and its group company DMG MORI AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT (hereinafter collectively referred to as “DMG MORI”) are pleased to announce that our greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets were approved by Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the lead partner of the Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign.

◆ The greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets approved by SBT initiative*1

  • Scope 1 + 2: Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 46.2% by 2030 (vs. 2019)
  • Scope 3:       Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 13.5% by 2030 (vs. 2019)

The SBTi a global initiative jointly launched by the United Nations Global Compact, CDP, World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). It appeals to companies to set the science-based reduction targets to achieve the level of decarbonization required to keep global temperature increase well below 2℃ and to pursue efforts to limit it to 1.5℃ compared to pre-industrial levels, which was agreed in the Paris Agreement. As of December 20th 2021, 1,083 companies worldwide, including 148 companies in Japan, were approved by SBTi.

*1 Scope 1:Direct emissions of greenhouse gas caused by company’s activities (Fuel combustion, Industrial processes)
Scope 2:Indirect emissions of greenhouse gas caused by purchased electricity, heat and steam
Scope 3:Indirect emissions of greenhouse gas besides Scope 1, Scope 2.
