05/15/2019|Chicago Innovation Days 2019 - DMP 70

Highly dynamic production machine with a footprint of 46.28 ft²

With its small footprint and spacious work area, the new DMP 70 from DMG MORI is the ideal compact and high efficiency machine for every shop.

  • Smallest of footprints measuring just 46.28 ft² – ideal for the production and medical industries
  • Travels of X 27 / Y 16 / Z 15 inches
  • Thermal stability thanks to its thermo-symmetrical machine design and optimum cooling concept
  • High precision is achieved via the direct absolute measuring systems (standard)
  • Rapid traverse rates of 60 m/min in all axes and up to 2 g acceleration
  • Dynamic tool change with a chip-to-chip time of 1.5 seconds (15-tool magazine)
  • Flexible automation systems allow access from the right, left or front of the machine
  • New DMG MORI Stealth design with compact doors and long-life surfaces
  • DMG MORI 19” SLIMline multi-touch control with Siemens Operate 4.8 and 3D control technologies
With a footprint of just 46.28 ft² the DMP 70 nevertheless has travel paths of 27 x 16 x 15 in.

As the successor of the MILLTAP 700 (with more than 3,000 machines installed), the new DMP 70 stands for maximum productivity on the smallest space. With a footprint of just 46.28 ft² it is 10 percent smaller than the MILLTAP 700. DMG MORI has designed the compact production machine for applications in medical technology, job shops, as well as the aerospace sector and other demanding industries. Travel paths of 27 x 16 x 15 inches and the optional integrated rotary table enable 5-axis simultaneous machining making the DMP 70 the ideal addition to any shop floor. Automation solutions such as the workpiece handling WH 3 Cell illustrate the flexibility of the DMP 70 and will be presented at Chicago Innovation Days.

The optimized machine design has made the DMP 70 an extremely rigid production machine, with a metal removal rate that is ten percent higher than the MILLTAP 700. An optimized grey cast iron machine bed and enlarged 1.3 in linear guideways is the basis for the 30 percent faster machining times on demanding workpieces. Additional machining stability has been achieved through the high-strength spindle – due to higher accurate preload.

The DMP 70 is a compact production machine for applications in medical technology, job shops, as well as the aerospace sector and other demanding industries.

User-friendly Stealth design for enhanced ergonomics

The DMP 70 is also very user friendly for machine tending and operation due to the ergonomic Stealth design, clear, well-lighted work area, and optional automatic doors. Scratch resistant surfaces protect the machine from damage and minimizes cleanup time.

Maximum precision due to reduced tolerances

DMG MORI has improved thermal stability with an optimized cooling concept and has increased the long-term accuracy of the DMP 70. Direct absolute scale feedback systems provide the highest level of positioning accuracy ensuring the machine meets the high precision demands of the target sectors. With reengineered high accuracy components, the DMP 70 has a 60% increased accuracy over its predecessor.

Automation solutions such as the workpiece handling WH 3 Cell can be connected from the right, left or front.

Top dynamics for productive manufacturing

With rapid travers rates of 60 m/min and an acceleration of up to 2 g in each axis, the DMP 70 offers exceptional speed and acceleration. In its standard version, the DMP 70 is equipped with an inline spindle with a speed of 10,000 rpm and 78 Nm torque. Its fast tool change and chip-to-chip times of 1.5 seconds also play their part in ensuring a high level of productivity. The easily accessible tool magazine has a capacity of up to 15 tools with lengths up to 9.8 in and a 25 tool magazine is available as an option.

Advanced 3D control technology

The DMP 70 utilizes DMG MORI’s SLIMline multi-touch control with Siemens Operate 4.8, and the 19” high-resolution display allows 3D machine simulation to be incorporated into the production process to reduce machining errors.
