As the innovation leader in machine tool manufacturing, DMG MORI has the aim to provide customers with latest technology as well as with comprehensive knowledge. Since 2006, DMG MORI Academy has been responsible for training DMG MORI customers and their own employees in both technical and non-technical skills development. The institution occupies over 12,000 square feet in the 100,000 square feet DMG MORI headquarters in suburban Chicago.

DMG MORI Academy's mission is to provide employees and customers with powerful classroom and distance education solutions that increase innovation, productivity and safety in the manufacturing environment. This educational institution supports precision, high-technology CNC machine tools, controls and software solutions manufactured and distributed by DMG MORI. Special certificates awarded by the DMG MORI Academy formally document the students’ learning achievements. Furthermore, DMG MORI Academy is the only machine tool manufacturer in the world to receive accreditation from the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS), a non-profit group which was formed in 1995 by the metalworking trade associations to develop and maintain a globally competitive American workforce.

The primary methods include: 1) Instructor-Led Classroom, 2) On-the-Job mentoring and 3) Online “Education-On-Demand” (EOD). Additionally, DMG MORI Academy introduced an apprentice program in 2012.

With a strategic educational model, DMG MORI Academy offers a triad of blended content and delivery methods. The primary methods include:

  1. Instructor-Led Classroom,
  2. On-the-Job mentoring and
  3. Online “Education-On-Demand” (EOD).

Additionally, DMG MORI Academy introduced an apprentice program in 2012. The two-year training program includes 400 hours of online classes, 26 weeks of instructor-led classes, and over 2,500 hours of real world experience performing repairs, installs, preventative ­maintenance, etc. with experienced service engineers.
